This was created for a homebrew Dungeons & Dragons setting called Sky Lords of Zanidar, which was inspired by planetary romances such as Burroughs' Barsoom and Flash Gordon.

In this setting, the elf-like Eladrin are the despotic rulers of the planet Zanidar, using their floating sky cities and immense etheric power to dominate the other races. The most common transportation for Eladrin on Zanidar (somewhat less widespread among other races) are the sky ships, flying vessels that are something like a cross between Flash Gordon-esque Rocket Shuttles and sailing ships.

This particular vessel is a small transport suitable for an adventuring party. It is armed with a light etheric weapon, and propelled by etheric screws (the green spiraling energy beams). The box standing on the deck at the nose is roughly the size of a human.

The model went through multiple designs in order to find something distinctive enough (and different enough from a "flying boat") to give Zanidar its own feel. One of the constraints of the model is that it also had to be converted in to a deck plan on a 5 foot square grid, so the ship had to be built to contain sufficient space.
